Protect Your Safety With Proper Maintenance

Many homeowners may not realize how important it is to have a yearly professional inspection of their fireplace, chimney, wood stoves and flues. If not properly maintained, there can be frightening undisclosed fire hazards lurking. That’s why the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) advise homeowners to have each fireplace, wood stove, flue, and chimney inspected annually by a trusted professional.

Fluesbrothers Is Your Trusted Professional

With the safety of your home and family at stake, you need to know the service you receive is done correctly by trained and experienced professionals. Fluesbrothers has been in business since 2000, and we are dedicated to providing superior customer service as we keep you safe. Our technicians are certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and receive continuing education which enables us to accurately evaluate, service, and maintain your chimney, fireplace, wood stove and dryer vents.

Don’t Forget About Your Clothes Dryer

In addition to the preventative maintenance needed for chimneys and fireplaces, your dryer vent needs professional service as well. Many people don’t realize that removing the lint from the dryer’s filter is not enough. Dryers that are not properly vented, (or dryers with venting systems blocked by lint and dust) can easily be the source of a house fire. In addition to improving safety, proper maintenance also improves the performance and longevity of your dryer. Each year your dryer vent should be thoroughly inspected to ensure the entire pathway is clear and vented according to the dryer’s manufacturer’s recommendations.

Historical Information On Waldo

Indians were the first inhabitants of the area now known as Waldo. By 1887, American settlers had arrived, the Indians had moved on, and the transition of the area had begun. Settlers now owned land and the railroad came to town. Trains continued to run through Waldo until as recent as 1993.

Waldo was founded in 1888 and incorporated in 1911 with a population of 300. The 1900s was a time some would characterize as Waldo’s “heyday”. There were electric lights, a public school, a bank, a grocery and drug store, along with an ice cream shop and creamery. Dr. J.C. Mitchell served as the town’s physician and surgeon.

With each passing decade, as the surrounding area became more established, the population of Waldo decreased. However, there remains a strong sense of history and community spirit among residents, past and present, in Waldo.
